Graphene HTML5 Canvas Animation

This HTML5 Canvas experiment was conceived as a digital counterpart to the Graphene kinetic sculpture by Theo Kaccoufa and Tom Grimsey.

Experience the Nano world. Mouse over to interact with the honeycomb lattice of this crystal that is stronger than diamond, but can stretch up to 20% of its length. At one carbon atom thick, Graphene is the thinnest two-dimensional material ever.

The controls on the bottom of the page allow you to extrapolate and make changes to the elasticity, responsiveness, displacement radius and/or intensity. You can also increase or reduce the number of atoms (non proportionally) and visualise the lattice with or without bonds.
